“Christians are being suppressed in Nigeria; many are being killed. America will not sit idly by and watch; we are considering military and other necessary operations.” — This is the roar of American President Donald Trump. “I am a devout Christian. My wife, Usha, is Hindu. But she comes to church with me every Sunday. We are raising our three children according to the Christian faith. Although I do not force her to become Christian, I hope that one day she will join my faith.” — This is the declaration of American Vice President James David (J.D.) Vance before a public gathering of ten thousand people.
Regarding Christianity, there is no consensus between Usha and James. Previously, she has explicitly stated in interviews that she would not convert. Why, then, is J.D. Vance exerting pressure in a public meeting now? Announcing personal religious matters in a public forum; putting public pressure on his wife by saying things that should be discussed privately; the attitude that any country can be struck down in an instant based on the name of religion—these are just a few recent events that hold a mirror to the face of American Republican politics.
Two types of extremes within America have become a threat to the entire world. One is “White Racism,” the extremist ideology of Protestant Evangelical Christian churches, associated with the Republican Party. The other is the “Woke” leftist extremism—a frenzy of “Caste-Gender-Race-Diversity-Muslim” advocacy—associated with the Democratic Party. Both parties are spreading their distorted poison across the globe. One stands for the crusaders, the other for the global jihadists. The reality of this hour is that no matter which of the two runs the government, they pose various problems for the world, and especially for Indians.
Despite the intense rivalry between these two factions, they are like-minded in making Christian religious fundamentalism a part of their foreign policy to subdue other nations. Even as “Woke” hardliners, the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris administration reportedly had plans to seize Bangladesh’s St. Martin’s Island to create a Christian state (by also usurping India’s North-Eastern states). It is noteworthy how a “left-wing extremist” administration pushed a Christian religious dimension. Similarly, there were reports of attempts to influence Chandrababu Naidu through certain Evangelical churches in Andhra Pradesh to withdraw support for the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There has long been an allegation that no matter which party is in power in America, American churches are used as tools for foreign policy, strategy, and intelligence agencies.
The American administrative machinery, which exports “Secularism” to other nations and preaches “Religious Freedom” to others, has always identified itself as “Anglo-Saxon White Protestant Christian.” America opposes other nations identifying themselves according to their own civilizations. Yet, it remains bound to an 18th-century artificial European racial identity. It is nothing new for the American government to use all its powers—churches, NGOs, awards, award winners, media, multinational companies, and now social media, the internet, Big Tech companies, and billionaires—to topple foreign governments, create political strife, organize racial riots, sponsor traitors, and create pretexts for war. When the Democratic Party is in power, the use of leftist organizations increases. When the Republican Party is in power, the use of right-wing forces increases. That is the only difference. Their Left-Right fights are internal issues; when it comes to suppressing others, both factions operate with a fair amount of consensus.
To this day, American presidents have been chosen with their Christian identity in mind. In 1776, George Washington took the oath of office by touching the Bible. That tradition continues today. All 47 presidents so far have declared themselves Christian. Even Barack “Hussein” Obama declared himself a Christian and attended church. Barring a few exceptions, the fact that most presidents have been Protestant and that no woman has yet reached the presidency reflects America’s political and social prejudices. Alongside “Wokism” extremism, her personal identity as a “Black woman” also contributed to Kamala Harris’s defeat (had Biden contested again, Trump would have faced a tougher challenge). The primary obstacle to the political growth of Vivek Ramaswamy, who is considered capable and intelligent, is the fact that he is a “Non-White Hindu.” Even FBI Director Kash (Kashyap) Patel faces opposition from Republican followers because he is a “Non-White Hindu.” Tulsi Gabbard also faces “MAGA” opposition because she is a “Hindu woman.” Regarding the presidency, America follows a hardline stance that is rarely seen in any other country. There, “Human Rights” is merely a deceptive tactic. It is laughable and shameful for those within such a hardline system to try to lecture a civilization of high ideals like India.
In Donald Trump’s second term, his “MAGA” (Make America Great Again) group is floating in an extreme intoxication of white racialism and Christian fundamentalism. In fact, even during Trump’s previous term, the mound of missionary evangelical extremist forces was growing large around him. Even then, there was an anti-Hindu wave in America (both major parties are like-minded on the issue of anti-Hinduism). However, all of that was masked by the then-intense, yet superficial, emotional fervor of the “India-America” and “Modi-Trump” alliance. During George W. Bush’s Republican presidency, American Evangelical activity was also intense, with allegations that it had the president’s encouragement. At that time, the Christian Science Monitor reported in detail how missionaries swarmed war-torn Iraq to attract Muslim populations. That episode was widely criticized: “Shouldn’t there be discretion regarding time and context even for the frenzy of conversion? Is it right to loot a burning house?” George Bush was not particularly known for religious extremism within the Republican Party. Even then, American Evangelism received so much encouragement during his tenure; one can only imagine what might happen during the term of Donald Trump, who won by leveraging “White-Christian-Male” identity. Currently, eager to suppress the influence China and Russia have in African countries and establish his own dominance, Trump has started the hollow excuse of “injustice against Christians in Nigeria.” Why does America, acting as if it were the “Caliph” of all Christians in the world, preach “Secularism” to other nations?
Formulating plans with the intent to swallow the whole world is an incurable mental illness. It is the cause of unnecessary conflicts. It is worth noting how American churches are attacking Buddhism in South Korea. A few years ago, 6,200 Buddhist monks in South Korea held a torchlight protest against the aggression of Christian missionaries and publicly vowed, “We will not let our country be turned into a medieval Christian religious empire.” But what happened? Today, the dominance of foreign churches in that country is largely established. India and Japan are also suffering from the same nuisance of American churches. The trouble is increasing in China too. These are “strategic” conversions. No one can question a voluntary conversion at a personal level. But trying to rule the world through strategic conversions is wrong. Using conversions and religious institutions as strategic tools is extremely dangerous. It is a belief that denies one’s own and others’ spiritual freedom and is detrimental to world peace.
JD Vance, dreaming of winning the 2028 presidential election, has already begun religious and racial calculations. He is worried that the “MAGA” group will not accept the President’s wife being a Hindu, especially a brown-skinned Indian. Thus, he is pressuring his wife to convert now. How much might this man, who is exerting so much pressure publicly, be hounding his wife inside their home? It is truly tragic that an intelligent woman from a family of scholars in Andhra Pradesh has fallen into the hands of such a malicious clique.
If Usha Chilukuri Vance, who holds the official position of the country’s “Second Lady,” falls victim to forced conversion, it will be recorded as a unique event in American history. Even if she converts, how can she “change her nationality”? She is not white; being Indian is her permanent identity. MAGA extremists have already raised objections that it is not right for such a woman to be called the country’s “First Lady.” Will James Vance, in his intense hunger for the presidency, go as far as to divorce Usha (sacrificing the wife who believed in him and married him when he was nothing, and who was responsible for his personal growth) to fulfill his ambition? The “MAGA” mentality, floating in the madness of religious and racial abnormality, needs to be observed carefully.
